Was everyone so quick to criticize and verbally attack others in the days before social media or is it just now more visible because they put it into words and post it for others to see?
No matter what the subject of a news story is, people pounce and criticize within minutes. Many times it’s more distressing to read the comments than it is to read the actual story because it makes you realize all the hatred that surrounds us. A story that happens somewhere else – whether it’s somewhere else in America or in a different country – comes to life in your own community once you read the comments.
How do those people in line behind in me at the grocery store feel about immigrants? Gay marriage? Israel? Even the color of coffee cups causes an uproar.
What is it with this thumbs-down mentality?
